What's New at Sayreville Middle School
Winner of the Sayreville Middle School Geography Bee, 7th grader Kyle Cruz, and Geography teacher Tom Mullins, who organized the bee.
For the 24th year, the National Geographic Society is holding the National Geography Bee for students in the 4th-8th grades in thousands of schools across the US. The 2012 bee is sponsored by Google. The winner of our school bee will advance to the next level of competition, a written exam to determine state competitors.

Sixth graders from Sayreville Middle School recently participated in a spelling bee. The program is part of the Scripps National Spelling Bee, and potentially one of our students could make it to that competition which is held in Washington, DC.
Thank you to everyone who donated to our Giving Tree. We collected over 250 gifts for the 50 children represented by CASA. Your generosity is truly appreciated!!! We wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season.
Students and faculty at Sayreville Middle School showed their holiday spirit by donating and wrapping gifts to give children in the CASA program. CASA is an advocacy group that represents foster children in the New Jersey court system. The students pictured are members of the school’s Community Service Club.

Community Service Club members have decorated the school’s annual CASA tree. The Service Club will collect and deliver gifts and donations for foster children who are part of the CASA organization. CASA is an advocacy group that represents foster children in court. Faculty, staff, and students are choosing ornaments and donating gifts. The ornaments have the initials of a child, their age and any special requests.
Students in Mrs. Mazur’s classes raised $538.56 in their Trick or Treat for UNICEF campaign.

Students participated in the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk during their physical education classes on Friday, 10/7. The students and the faculty collected $216.61.

Students at Sayreville Middle school helped beautify school grounds by planting colorful mums donated by the school’s PTO, with the assistance of Sayreville Lawn and Garden. Teachers David Vogel and David Fischer coordinated the event.
